Hello All,
We are now accepting recommendations for the 2011 Leonore Annenberg Scholarship awarded to a junior attending high school in a rural community. Attached is an overview of the scholarship and the guidelines. The deadline for recommendations this year will be December 1st. However, if you need more time just let us know and we may be able to extend that time frame a few days.
The process is pretty simple. We take student recommendations from our partners and then narrow the pool down to three students based on the completed recommendation form, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Once we have the three, we create an applicant portfolio for each of the finalists and then submit those to Annenberg. Together we make the final decision.
Rural students can only apply through the Rural Trust - they can not apply directly to the Annenberg Foundation so please make sure these materials are shared only with your school colleagues, foundation members and partners and not posted on a public website. Annenberg has also asked us not to inform students that they have been selected until after they have made the final cut so they're not likely to be disappointed.
Please let me know if you plan to nominate a student as soon as possible and feel free to contact me with any questions.
